Dr. Shamika Cordis was born in Brooklyn, New York and lived in Panama until age 6. Her family relocated and had settled in Olympia, WA, where Dr. Cordis was raised and grew up with her siblings. After graduating from River Ridge High School and receiving her high school diploma, she had earned a full academic scholarship. During her studies at Philander Smith College in Little Rock, AR, Dr. Cordis realized she had a great passion for health care. A surge of motivation to facilitate a more proactive approach to healthcare is what led her to feed this passion.
After obtaining her B.S. in Biology from Philander Smith College, the soon to be Dr. Cordis attended Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, MO. During her time at Logan College of Chiropractic, she researched and co-authored a paper titled “The Effects of Chiropractic Care and Heart Rate Variability.” With both a degree in Doctor of Chiropractic and Masters of Science and Rehab, Dr. Cordis relocated to Chicago, IL where she began practicing chiropractic care. Throughout her career, Dr. Cordis became a Board Certified Chiropractor that has treated pediatrics, pregnant mothers, families, celebrities, collegiate athletes, professional athletes and animals. Later, Dr. Cordis made a decision to return to her home state of Washington to pursue her own practice and eventually lead to the opening of her own expanded health care clinic just a few miles from Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA.
In her free time, Dr. Cordis enjoys a variety of sports and physical activities such as kickball and hiking. Learning to cook various dishes from around the world is also a preferred past time, which is relative to her love of traveling within her mainland and abroad.
Aside from her adventures touring the world, devoting time to her community is a continuous dedication. Flying to the Dominican Republic to provide free chiropractic care was an excellent opportunity to combine her passions and efforts. Volunteering her skills, time and heart to the Salvation Army, American Heart Association, VA Hospital, Seattle-King County free clinic and local free clinics is just an example of her commitment to the community.
